New Social Studies Unit!

Save the date!!

field trip to the Pequot Museum in Mashantucket, CT on Thursday, December 9th!

Next week we will be writing a research paper about a specific Native American tribe. Today we worked with Mrs. Donahue on how to use the online library catalog to find resources. On Monday, she will teach us how to use the Kidspiration graphic organizer software to figure out how to help organize our thoughts and make a plan before we begin our research. The tribes we are studying are:

Allie: Hopi      Victoria: Delaware    Alex: Osage      Dallas: Pueblo

We will be writing the reports in our homerooms. When we get together for mixed social studies, we will work with a partner to create an authentic tribal village. I am including some pictures from last year.

In order to make the project authentic, we would like the majority of materials used to be found in nature. Yet we are also hoping that each student could bring in some clay to make models out of by Monday, 11/22. We have had good success with Crayola Model Magic (found at a store such as Michael’s craft store) because it is so easy to shape and air dries. Colors are great, but the plan white works well, also. Check out www.michaels.com - frequently they have a 40%  or 50% coupon.

Thank you so much for all you do!
