Hi families!
This is Allie - Monday is Columbus Day. We don’t have school, and this is how I celebrate the holiday at home. I throw darts at Columbus’s face because he was not a kind person to the Native Americans. Even my sister does it.
In art we are making pretend scrimshaw. We use clay because whales teeth are hard to get. A scrimshaw artist is coming in soon to show us how to do it.
Hi - it's Victoria. So now it is my turn to tell you something. We did an experiment yesterday. Everyone put ice cubes into the bowl. Then we filled it with very cold water. We tried to put our hand in the cold water for one minute. We reached our hand into the icy water for 45 seconds to one minute. It was cold! Next we filled up a bag with whale blubber. Our hands were warmer than before. The blubber made us warm and we learned that whales can go in any water and be warm since they have blubber.
Do you know that we are going on a field trip to the New Bedford Whaling museum on October 19th. Did you know that it is someone’s birthday that day? If you want to come, just ask our teacher. You can send her an e-mail or you can write on the blog.
Thank you for reading our blog. Please post comments for us!
Enjoy the long weekend!
From your bloggers,
Allie and Victoria
